Discovery - Choral Symphony 2008
Premiered Portland 2008 & BMW Edge Theatre Federation Square Melbourne.
Performed by the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Orchestra and the Music Glenelg Festival Singers (a massed choir) “Discovery” is an original work, commissioned by Music Glenelg Inc. and composed by Ms Dindy Vaughan.
In four movements, each matching a major environmental experience on The Walk – first The Cliffs- bold, up rearing cliffs of Cape Bridgewater and Cape Nelson; The Beach - wild, storm-swept Discovery Bay; The Forest - an extensive, vibrant, hardwood forest; and finally The River - the sublime Glenelg River. This choral symphony allows a wide range of people to experience, in a cultural setting, the magnificence and grandeur of the Great South West Walk.
As each movement unfolds, vision of the relevant part of The Walk will be shown on a large electronic screen. Once performed and recorded, the Symphony, like all works of art, will continue to convey its message transcending the barriers of space and time.
